New Stand-Alone Model?

The day is coming when GMC releases a unique model says global product chief Mark Reuss

According to Automotive News, Mark Reuss, Executive VP of Global Product Development, confirmed that GMC is working on a stand-alone vehicle that will not share a platform with Chevy as it does for all its current models. Since he did not elaborate, we are only left to speculate as to what this new model could be. Given that the Granite concept will not be going into production, and GMC has no plans to build any crossovers or cars – it seems obvious that it will be a truck. But what kind of truck? What market have they not covered with the current models?

For lack of any other credible rumors, I'm going to put it out there that GM should build something akin to the Cheyenne concept, and while we are at it – a new Syclone and Typhoon. Now that there is a twin-turbo V-6 in the arsenal, it only seems fitting that GM figures out how to cram one into a regular cab mid-size truck and SUV with all-wheel drive bred for performance. Who else has ideas? Let's hear 'em!
