2015 GMC Canyon pickup to debut

Flight and hotel are booked, itinerary is set, Detroit here we come!

This Sunday I will be flying out to Detroit for my first North American International Auto Show. And what a time to do it! GM will be unveiling the 2015 Corvette Z06 and C7.R for the first time, and myself as well as a core group of automotive journalists will be given a behind the scenes look at the development of these two impressive vehicles, which were developed hand-in-hand, and interviews with GM's development team. However, as detailed as the itinerary is, there is still some amount of mystery involved, and I get the feeling that GM has plenty up their sleeves.

Exhibit A: the picture above and below. This GMC logo has been projected along an expressway in Motor City (Photo by Steve Fecht for GMC). The 2015 GMC Canyon pickup is said to debut this Sunday according to Steve Fecht in GM News, which will complement the recent unveiling of its Chevrolet counterpart – the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.

What else could be coming? Well there is also the announcement of the Car/Truck of the Year coming early Monday, where the 2014 Corvette Stingray, 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2014 Cadillac CTS have all be nominated. And there is a scheduled interview with the VP of Marketing for Buick/GMC and the chief engineer for Cadillac as well. Could there be a new model announcement? We'll have to wait and see. A Vsport version of the ATS and a CTS-V are both highly anticipated, and there has been plenty of talk about a new Grand National and GNX. Only time will tell.

Canyon production starts Fall 2014, and the Colorado possibly sooner, both out of the Wentzville, MO plant.

Is GM going to start production of the Chevy Colorado, or the GMC Canyon?
