Lutz kills hopes of a re-skinned G8

Despite rumors that circulated nearly as soon as Bob Lutz declared he would be postponing retirement to continue at GM, the G8 will not in fact be rebadged as a Chevy Caprice. "Upon further review and careful study, we simply cannot make a business case for such a program. Not in today's market, in this economy, and with fuel regulations what they are and will be." I can almost hear the collective sigh through my computer from all of the B-body fanatics who have been clamoring for a RWD Impala after the '96 models sold out, as well as the GM faithful that thought they finally had a working man's CTS-V.
