It seems that bashing GM is still all the rage, even when they try to fix issues before they become a real problem. To me, that sounds like something you would want a company to do.
According to several sources (and the fact that I have a hard copy of the recall on my desk) GM has issued an officail recall for the 'Poistive Battery Cable Routing' problem.
As you may have seen a few days ago, one new Camaro (yes, just one) was stranded a couple of miles from the dealership. According to GM "Some of these vehicles have a condition in which the postive battery cable may contact the starter motor housing and cuase wear on the cable insulation. If the insulation wears though to the cable, it could create a short. A short could result in a no start condition, cuase the vehicle to stall without the ability to restart, or result in an engine compartment fire"
The fix, which takes less then 30 minutes, is free of charge. Along with this, GM is offering free towing and use of a loaner vehicle while repairs are being made.
Of course, the Camaro haters are going crazy. What are your thoughts on the issue? Should GM have found this earlier or is it nice to see them take a proactive stance on fixing it?
