LS376/480 Camaro Swap

The crew at TT Performance Parts is doing the final button-up of 1SC-YA's new GMPP LS376/480 crate engine now. Visible in this pic is the Lingenfelter box, mounted on the left, needed to simplify this desirable engine swap.

So far no major hiccups have befallen my hardtop Z––we'll have numbers for you soon.

1. Caution:
I have a 2001 Camaro. The LS3 will not bolt up to the T56 transmission. The LS3 engine crankshaft sits back about ½ inch so the transmission will not fit flush with the engine block. You'll need a spacer, shorter input shaft for the transmission or different bell housing. Any comments?

2. Update:

The folks that I bought my crate engine from sold me the wrong pilot bearing. The one they sent is for an LS1 engine. The LS1 pilot bushing will fit in the LS3 crankshaft but won't allow the t-56 trans to go forward far enough. Solution? Use the smaller older style pilot bushing that fits up in the LS3 crankshaft about 3/4 further. Problem solved.

3. I contacted SD about the cable throttle bracket (PN SD90BRKT) and crank balancer bolt (PN SD6621) and these parts are not avaliable. Could anyone help me with this. I intend to install the LS3 in my 2001WS6.

5. I picked up your magazine last weekend from my local grocery store, loved it so much and got myself a 2 year subscription a few minutes ago.

I was fascinated by your article on the awesome LS376/480. I have a 91 Z28 Convertible with a 305 TPI in it
Is this LS376/480 a good fit for a swap? Can this be done? I am tired of getting smoke by these Japanese made motorcycles.
Please let me know.

6. Thanks for reading (and subscribing)! As we showed, the swap can be done on a fourth-gen...we hope in the future to cover some third-gen LS1/LS3 swaps; Hawks Third Gen (among others) has been doing them for years. Check out www.hawksthirdgenparts.com for a host of conversion parts. BMR and Spohn both make conversion crossmembers, K-members, etc.
