Two new tracks are officially open in the good old Garden State. Old Bridge Township Raceway Park has officially opened the gates to its long-awaited 1.35-mile course. We've already logged plenty of miles on the technical 13-turn gambit, eating up every bit of the 40-foot wide track and blasting down the 1,400-foot straightaway at over 110mph. This smaller course is ideal for time trials and driving school, in fact starting July 21st seven dates were already planned for a driving school as well as novice and intermediate open track. No sanctioned races are scheduled yet, but it is available for rent. Check out www.racewaypark.com for more details.
New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ is a larger scale facility dedicated specifically to road racing and F1 Karting. Thunderbolt Raceway is the largest of three tracks, and the purported signature track, at 2.25-miles in length. With 14 turns and a half mile straightaway, some serious rubber will be burned up at this southern New Jersey gem. Top notch VIP suites, garages, media center and facilities hope to define Thunderbolt as one of the premier tracks in the northeast. Already they have planned several major races for August and September including the SPEED World Challenge not to mention many local club racing and open track day events. An abundance of SCCA and NASA events are already scheduled. Go to www.njmotorsportspark.com for more information.
