Greg Anderson's GXP

In the wake of the tragic death of Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta last weekend at the Lucas Oils Supernationals at Englishtown, NJ's Raceway Park; Greg Anderson captured his 54th career Pro Stock victory. The Summit Racing Pontiac GXP was the number one qualifier with a 6.599-second ET at 209mph. In the final round against Dave Connolly's Chevy Cobalt, both cars experienced heavy tire-shake coming off the line, but Anderson managed to get back into the throttle and muster a 7.57 for the win. "It was a pedal fest, and it was ugly, but I got the win," Anderson said later. The influential third win of the season moves the 47-year old North Carolina-native to second place in the standings. It was a big weekend for GM drag racing as Tim Wilkerson took the Funny Car win in his Impala, and extended his lead in the points standings over Ashley Force.
