If you already haven't heard our very own Terminator Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has passed a law banning cell phone use while driving unless you use a wireless headset.
Effective July 1, 2008, all motorists who drive in California will be required to use a wireless headset when driving. There are some exceptions to the law you might want to know about.
- The law does allow calls without a headset for emergency purposes.
- Also commercial vehicles that use push-to-talk phones wont be effected till July 1, 2011.
- Emergency response vehicles can use a cell phone with out a hands-free device.
Additional states that already have this law in effect include Connecticut, the District of Columbia, New Jersey and New York. Drivers who get a ticket for the new law will have to pay a base fine of $20 for the first offence and $50 for each subsequent offense. So my advice for this new law is go get a Bluetooth Headset. You can find them cheap, ranging anywhere from $30 to $200; I recommend any headset from Motorola. I have one any it is reliable and the battery last a long time too. Be safe everyone.
