The passing of a transmission wizard

ERIC SCHERTZ, 1968-2008

This May, the EFI GM community lost Eric Schertz, one of the most talented transmission builders around––and one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet.

A known medical condition finally took Eric at age 39, but not before he solidified his name, as well as the name Dynotech Performance, as one of the premier 200-4R and forced induction builders in the industry.

But the most remarkable thing about Eric was his personality: he was a friendly, outgoing, inquisitive guy who was generous to a fault and always took the time to answer questions. And his customer service was legendary.

Eric leaves behind his wife Liz, and two sons: Jack (5) and Marc (3). Anyone who would like to donate to the boys' college funds can make their checks payable to College America, 2900 Island Channel Road, Seaford, NY 11783.

I doubt that the time of Eric's passing was just a coincidence: the week that he left us, hundreds of sinister, turbocharged Buicks converged at the GS Nationals in Bowling Green, KY, channeling massive amounts of torque through GM transmissions––many of which were built by him personally. A fitting tribute to an amazing man.
